JOB SUMMARY:
Asset Manager will manage multiple power generation facilities, which responsibilities shall include operations and maintenance, commercial and regulatory, and overall profit and loss for the plants. The position will have a minimum of 500 MWs of generation and/or multiple technologies under direct management and could have direct reports such as Site Managers.
Job Functions:
- This position has full P&L responsibility for one or more power projects.
- Partner with the Energy Management Team on any development activities and participate in the development/review contracts impacting sites managed.
- Identify project optimization opportunities such as contract restructuring, market opportunities that provide additional revenue sources and operational and process improvements.
- Provide oversight and management of power market interface, fuel and other commodity supply, regulatory and environmental compliance, community relations, budget development and cost controls/accounting, process management to insure production optimization and best practices, and direct interface with third party operation and maintenance provider.
- Provide support to project staff to resolve project, contractual, commercial, or regulatory issues.
- Function as the owner’s representative under a multitude of project contracts including sale of electricity, fuel supply, energy management, multi-party partnership, operation and maintenance, property tax, financing, interconnection agreements and water supply.
- Directly supervise the operation and maintenance of the region through Plant/Site Manager and his/her staff employed by REV and/or an independent operation and maintenance company and supports them in the execution of business objectives.
- Organize and implement a business plan and annual budget that meets the objectives of the owners, project structure and contracts.
- If applicable, interface and support of the development of work processes to ensure O&M best practices and have familiarity with reliability centered maintenance. Work with O&M provider to develop historic and forward-looking reliability to include recommendations and critical parts lists.
- Development of top tier performance metrics that align plant priorities with safety, environmental and regulatory compliance, and optimal profitability.
- Ensure plant performance is optimized, captured, and communicated to the energy manager through the development of incremental cost curves that maximize output while minimizing cost including incremental heat rate, real time fuel characteristics and plant wear and tear.
- Interface with various groups within owner’s company to effectively communicate financial performance and projections.
- Support ownership in regulatory proceeding that have the potential to impact plant profitability, including help monitoring and identification of such proceedings.
- Support ownership objectives around acquisition and divestiture of projects.
Education/Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience managing and/or the operation and maintenance of generation assets, preferably in the electric power industry. 1 - 2 years of asset management or plant operation experience.
- BS in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical preferred) or BA/BS in Business, Management, or Finance from an accredited university is preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Skilled in negotiating and administering contracts and agreements, budget preparation, economic analysis.
- Demonstrable knowledge of power plant systems (i.e., solar, battery, and large rotating equipment (Hydro/ Wind)), operational requirements, safety and compliance requirements; effective management practices; property and casualty insurance; planning, budgeting and financial assessment; project financing and credit facilities.
- Sound analytical skills to compile, as well as dissect and interpret financial and operational information. Disseminate updates to senior management and partners.
- Strong leadership skills, including a demonstrated proactive work ethic. As part of a lean and dynamic team, the candidate must be able to plan, oversee, and personally execute numerous projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and adjust to changing priorities.
- Familiarity with power markets including both merchant and contractual (PPA) commercial arrangements.
- Experience with procuring and managing technical and operational services needed at operating assets.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Frequent travel is required.
