Summary
The Electrician 2 is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, while adhering to NEC, OSHA, and local codes. Troubleshoot and maintain electrical and solar systems, conduct site assessments, and ensure optimal performance of installations. Collaborate with project teams and mentor junior electricians.
Primary Duties
- Electrical Work:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in commercial settings.
- Perform wiring, conduit installation, and panel upgrades following state and local codes.
- Install, commission, and troubleshoot solar inverters and other photovoltaic (PV) systems.
- Conduct site assessments and ensure the optimal performance of solar installations.
- Work with solar operations teams to enhance efficiency and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code), OSHA, and local electrical regulations.
- Obtain and maintain a valid electrical license for work in CA if not already licensed.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other electricians to deliver projects on time.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior electricians and apprentices.
- Experience in developing an apprenticeship program
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues, including those related to PV systems and inverters.
- Perform routine maintenance to maximize system performance and lifespan.
Working Relationships
- The Electrician reports directly to the VP Operations & Safety
Compensation
The initial hourly rate of pay will range from $33.00 - $39.00.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Education: Technical training or apprenticeship in electrical systems.
- Years of Experience:
- Three years of experience in commercial electrical systems.
- Proven expertise in solar operations, including inverter installation and troubleshooting.
- Preferred Experience: Experience with energy storage systems (ESS) and battery installations.
- Licenses/Certification:
- Active Electrician License in WA
- Active Electrician License in CA, or able to obtain within 90 days.
- NABCEP or equivalent solar credentials (preferred)
- OSHA 30 (preferred)
- Software/Equipment Knowledge: Proficiency in reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
- Other Considerations:
- Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with safety standards and protocols for electrical and solar installations
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
Fit for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
