SUMMARY
Terra-Gen is a growing renewable energy developer and operator, with most of its facilities located in California. Reporting to the Environmental Compliance Manager, this role will focus on supporting the implementation of compliance programs and procedures while providing environmental compliance assistance to the EHS, construction, and operations teams.
This ideal person is reliable, organized and detail-oriented with strong communication skills. They can follow direction and complete tasks thoroughly and efficiently. The right individual thrives in a field environment but also is comfortable completing administrative tasks on-time to maintain records and compliance, ensuring Terra-Gen's activities comply with environmental regulations and internal standards.
The ideal candidate possesses a basic understanding of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations and is energetic, self-motivated, and eager to grow and develop in the field of environmental compliance.
This role is full-time and will be based out of a Mojave field office and include both office-based and field-based work. This individual will make day trips to the projects to support compliance activities. The individual needs to be located within driving distance to Terra-Gen projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned, as needed)
- Understand and assist in the implementation of environmental compliance programs for each project to meet local, state and federal permitting requirements.
- Complete tasks required in environmental compliance plans and policies.
- Assist in preparing materials for environmental training initiatives and maintain attendance records.
- Conduct routine internal site inspections to monitor compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and company policies.
- Collect and document field data in accordance with established protocols.
- Identify, report, and escalate potential environmental risks or instances of non-compliance.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of compliance activities, including inspection reports, permits, and sampling data.
- Assist in preparing and submitting regulatory reports to local, state, and federal agencies.
- Monitor, track and manage deadlines for environmental permits, reports, and inspections.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE
- At least 1 year of experience in environmental and regulatory compliance
- Field-based experience in the renewables industry, preferred
- Basic knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance practices, preferred.
- Experience conducting and participating in environmental field-based inspections and audits.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Excellent written & verbal communication
REASONING ABILITY & DECISION-MAKING SKILLS
- Proficient in identifying potential problems and escalating to management.
- Ability to develop written or verbal corrective action plans focused on resolving potential issues.
- Problem solving skills using modern approaches.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid CA driver’s license with excellent driving record (required)
- Certifications in other environmental compliance programs (i.e. QSP, HAZWOPER, etc.) (preferred)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to comfortably lift up to 50lbs and ability to maneuver in steep grades and muddy conditions.
- Regular travel to projects (approximately 25% of the time) and potential overnight stays
- Personal vehicle may be needed for regular field visits (Mileage reimbursements based on the current federal mileage rate)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to conduct field work in challenging terrain and/or during inclement weather, often independently.

The posted compensation is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This salary range may also be modified in the future, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
