Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $83,000 - $138,400 annually. The target range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.
Scope of Job: This position, under general direction of the Environment & Sustainability Sr. Manager, is responsible for the daily activities associated with the development, direction, and implementation of EDF Renewables (EDFR) Environment and Sustainability (E&S) programs. This position will provide EDFR leadership and employees with sound guidance to ensure our business activities comply with all Federal, State, Provincial, and/or local, E&S regulations/standards. This position holds all employees accountable for adherence to E&S policies, procedures, and practices, including supporting and promoting company values.
Responsibilities

This position plays a lead role in driving the overall culture throughout the organization.
15% - Interprets Federal, State, Provincial and local regulations, best practices, and information gathered from consensus standards and environmental impact analyses to develop and maintain sound E&S Policies, Procedures, and Instructional Material.
15% - Acts as the subject matter expert for high level programs which impact the larger organization, a few of which will include threatened and endangered species act, various biodiversity topics such as vegetation management, NEPA guidance, wetland delineation reviews, environmental impact statement reviews, NPDES permitting and compliance along with SWPPP engineering review, reporting & compliance.
15% - Functions as a subject matter expert in Environment & Sustainability matters, providing high level professional advice and guidance to the Pre-construction and construction teams. Will develop E&S documents and information for distribution to locations.
10% - Function as the point person for all E&S training development and deployment for assigned topics, working closely with the Training Department.
10% - Develops and deploys of E&S campaigns and communication materials for broad distribution within the organization while working closely with the Communications Department.
10% - Provides technical guidance on procedures and processes to assure employee and contractor adherence and compliance with applicable regulations and/or consensus standards.
10% - Travels to office locations, and industry events to garner understanding of how documents and requirements the E&S team develops will impact the organization.
10% - Represents E&S team in a positive way, encourages adherence to E&S policies, and provides a framework to promote sound E&S practices throughout the EDFR NA footprint.
5% - Other duties as assigned
Supervision of Others: This employee will not have supervisory responsibilities.
Working Conditions: 75% of time is spent in a home office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 25% of time is spent outside of a home office visiting construction sites, vendors’, and/or internal customers in addition to attending various conferences and meetings. Travels throughout North America, or internationally as required or directed.
Fiscal Responsibilities: Responsible for managing travel expenses as well as ensuring program requests are accompanied by sound business plan associated costs/budget impact.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Proficient reading, comprehension / writing skills. Technical writing ability necessary.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all operational levels of the organization as well as with suppliers and customers, exercising appropriate tact and diplomacy to accomplish objectives.
- Must be able to work with diverse groups of people in challenging environments.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a valid passport for international travel or able to obtain one upon request.
- Must have the ability to present a wide range of E&S topics to large groups.
- Must maintain reliable high-speed internet connectivity at home office location.
- Must maintain a home office location within 1 hour driving commute of a commercial airport.
- Continued education as required to fulfill required duties.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental policy, environmental sciences, sustainability, water quality, biological sciences, or similar area of study required.
5+ years of practical E&S technical experience required. 8+ years is a plus!
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Must have a working knowledge of Federal, State & Provincial E&S Regulations / Standards.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
Working knowledge with various Microsoft software programs including but not limited to Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint (Office Suite).
Physical Requirements: This position will perform most of their work activities in a typical home office environment that requires sitting, standing, and walking for up to 9 hours per day.
