DC Solar Electric Inc., a Division of the Stevens Family Companies has an opportunity for a Lead Solar Installer/Journeyman Electrician. This position offers you an exciting opportunity to help provide a clean, safe, and reliable source of Electric Power to light, cool/heat homes and schools, run factories, and provide goods and services that we all depend upon. This position will report to the President of Construction and will require a high degree of professionalism/client interaction.
The Lead Installer/Journeyman Electrician will:
Be responsible for managing and installing the photovoltaic system from beginning to end through coordination with the project manager and working side by side with team members.
Complete the project with the highest level of safety, quality, efficiency, and conformance to the approved plans and specifications.
Qualifications:
- Mechanically minded individual able to work in the field installing residential and/or commercial grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) systems.
- Minimum 3 years of previous solar installation experienced required (applicants without solar or extensive electrical experience will not be accepted).
- Experience installing both roof and ground mount systems.
- Experience with micro and string inverters as well as setting up monitoring systems.
- NABCEP Certifications a plus.
- Journeyman Electrician Certification in the State of California (requirement).
- General construction knowledge including roofing, electrical, and carpentry skills.
- Experience with electrical work involving up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC.
- Working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), Uniform Building Code (UBC), local & utility jurisdiction requirements.
- Experience complying with OHSA safety requirements and regulations.
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.

Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
- Review project plans and drawings and ensure that the project is built according to design.
- Work with crew members to complete projects within established policies and procedures, assemble the solar array racking, properly seal all roof penetrations, and install all relative equipment.
- Set up solar monitoring system.
- Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on safety.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues.
- Communicate with customers in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner, answering all questions and concerns to the best of your ability.
- Comply with required training and fulfillment of assigned duties.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Complete projects within established policies, procedures, strict timeframes and allowed budgets.
- Respond timely to customer issues and escalate if appropriate.
Physical Demands:
- Able to sit, stand, walk, bend (neck), squat, climb, kneel, crawl, twist (neck and waist).
- Repetitive use of hands in simple grasping, power grasping, fine manipulation,
- pushing/ pulling, reaching above shoulder and below shoulder level.
- Lift equipment and materials up to 50 lbs. occasionally throughout the day.
- Work around heavy equipment safely.
- Operate vehicles and machinery.
- Walk on uneven ground.
- Exposure to excessive noise.
- Exposure to extremes in temperature, humidity or wetness.
- Exposure to dust, gas, fume or chemical.
- Working at heights, including on roof and rack.
- Operate foot controls or repetitive foot movements.
- Must be able to work outside and inside.
This is a full-time position. Competitive wages paid based on experience.
