The Commercial Energy Storage Business Development Lead is a new role within ReVision Energy’s Commercial business unit focused on growing our battery energy storage system (BESS) business for commercial and institutional (C&I) clients in Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire. ReVision is seeking an individual that will be an active participant in creating a scalable sales strategy and methodology within this emerging business unit. Building on ReVision’s strong foundation of commercial solar customer champions and our long experience delivering residential and small commercial storage solutions, the Commercial Energy Storage Business Development Lead will build and maintain an active pipeline of BESS opportunities, including customer prospecting, proposal development and delivery, contract closing, and ongoing customer engagement for continued lead generation. The Commercial Energy Storage Business Development Lead’s overarching goal will be to develop a portfolio of energy storage projects within the ME, MA and NH markets. This role will be expected to identify situations where solar PV would be necessary or additive to the customer’s project and will be responsible for developing that as part of the overall system proposal for the customer. This role will be a member of ReVision’s Energy Storage Team and report to the Director of Energy Storage (DES). In addition to the base salary, this role offers exciting commission incentives based on the sales generated.
This full-time position, which requires an in-office presence of 1 day per week, is company-wide and offers the flexibility to report to any of our office locations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Analyze New England’s commercial storage markets and develop state-specific business development strategies with the Director of Energy Storage
- Build and maintain an active pipeline of commercial BESS opportunities, combining existing customer engagement and new lead generation
- Design and deliver comprehensive BESS proposals to potential customers, containing appropriate financial and technical detail, in collaboration with ReVision’s in-house Engineering team
- Identify and develop solar PV into the BESS proposal when necessary to meet customer goals or program requirements
- Educate and guide potential customers through the sales cycle, culminating in signed contracts, clean hand-off to operations, and repeat/referral opportunities
- Meet or exceed sales goals, as defined by the Director of Energy Storage and larger organizational objectives
- Plan and implement community engagement/education, networking, and other business development strategies to achieve BESS sales goals from lead generation to signed contract and hand-off to operations teams
- Engage in ongoing education to ensure continued mastery of BESS and solar PV technologies/financials/incentives and expanded sales expertise
- Develop and refine BESS financial and technical presentation based on most recent incentives, customer needs, and industry best practices
- Monitor changing local, state, and federal incentives and regulations pertaining to BESS; ensure ReVision’s BESS strategies remain up to date as markets evolve
Requirements
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sales/business development with track record of success in complex technical sales
- Minimum 3 years of experience in clean energy, technology, or related fields; strong preference for storage-specific experience
The ideal candidate has:
- Advanced degree in energy, business, engineering, or related fields
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing business development strategies and meeting sales goals
- Working knowledge of solar and energy storage systems in target New England markets
- Experience developing/utilizing financial modeling and technical design tools
- Active network of potential commercial BESS customers in New England or demonstrated ability to develop such a network
- Demonstrated success collaborating with diverse stakeholders
- Proactive, strategic thinker with sound technical skills, exceptional analytical ability, and good judgment
