POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
AMBASSADOR/ADVISOR: The Solar VP of Technology is the ambassador between the Digital/Technology Department(s) and other business Departments. This position is a trusted advisor and is the primary technology point of contact to business executives on Solar Leadership Team.
RESPONSIBILITY/PARTNER: The Solar VP of Technology has the overall responsibility to serve as the strategic interface with Solar functional areas and departments for the purpose of business technology strategy development, solution discovery, service management, and relationship management. The Solar VP of Technology is key to the business and technology relationship link between Solar business functions and departments and everything digital or technology. The Solar VP of Technology provides highly valued strategic consulting level support and guidance through key IT/Digital initiatives. They communicate decisions, priorities and relevant project information to appropriate levels of staff regarding business unit requests and projects and initiatives. They proactively share knowledge of technology opportunities to build competitive advantage and improve efficiency and effectiveness of business functions and departments. They partner with business leadership and other key stakeholders to define opportunities and identify and prioritize projects based on predefined criteria (e.g. return on investment, service, quality, production, productivity, and compliance).
The Solar VP of Technology directs the strategic design, acquisition, management, and implementation of an enterprise-wide [Solar] technology infrastructure and is responsible for the long-range direction of an organization’s technology function. The Solar VP of Technology monitors and analyzes technology and trends that could improve the company’s performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Solar VP of Technology requires an advanced degree in Computer Science or Engineering. This position will report to the Enterprise Chief Information Officer and Solar Presidents and work hand-in-hand with the Solar SVP of Business Optimization. The Solar VP of Technology must have business acumen and technology leadership experience. The Solar VP of Technology provides strategic leadership to align business goals with the IT and Digital Portfolio of projects and services. The Solar VP of Technology will also:
Coordinate capital and operational budgeting and forecasting for infrastructure, licensing, vendors, partners and workforce.
Work across the IT organization and senior level executives to lead the careful and responsible management of the technical organization.
Lead assigned functions such as Strategic Planning, Financial Management, Information Security, Program Management, Artificial Intelligence, and Business Continuity.
Exercise influence across IT, and company-wide, in the areas of operational excellence and scale.
Achieve measurable improvements in the organization’s capabilities and effectiveness to perform against expanding workloads and demands for services.
Provide guidance and recommendations to business units to improve business performance through the effective use of technology.
Develop and implement strategic plans to address long-term business needs while promoting IT efficiency and sustainability.
Play a coach and mentor role for IT teams/members to help align IT strategic initiative to larger organization.
Escalation point of contract for Solar executives to IT leadership as necessary.
Act as a change agent, driving a culture of continuous improvement and IT excellence.
Serve as the bridge between the IT team(s) and business functions and departments, fostering clear communication and collaboration.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 10+ years of experience in IT or a mix of business leadership and IT leadership experience.
Strong conceptual thinking skills, able to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions that are practical and efficient.
Leadership and working well with executive peers and teams.
Deep business understanding and acumen.
Ability to influence leaders throughout the organization.
Very strong communicator and presenter.
Proven track record in growing a technology stack to support a growing business.
Broad-based exposure to all technology disciplines and skills.
Master’s degree in business or Master’s degree in Science with a focus on Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.
