Position Description:
The Commercial Interconnection Specialist (CIS) applies for interconnection to investor owned and local owned utilities for permission to operate a solar generation system and/or back up energy storage system. This position requires flexible and meticulous task management, including frequent uploading of documents, changing utility rate structures, ability to read site plans and single line diagrams, understanding of California Energy Commission regulations, pivoting to new regulations from the CPUC and legislature requirements (AB2143), to mention a few. The CIS must use diligent coordination with clients to get all forms filled out in a timely and correct manner. This position also requires excellent written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with utility engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Apply for project interconnection to utilities for solar commercial projects.
- Assist residential projects interconnection specialist as needed.
- Apply for project status based on AB2143 and DIR requirements as applicable.
- Keep documentation updated as it pertains to changes with rules and regulations for utilities at the state and local levels.
- Keep documentation up to date and current for all application types with all utilities.
- Become the subject matter expert on how to apply and what is needed for application acceptance for all utilities.
- Attend Sales Hand-off meetings
- Work with clients, Project Managers, Engineers, and Superintendents to ensure that our work meets compliance and regulatory requirements
- Work with Superintendents to ensure jobs are on track for final permit sign off and PTO.
- Other assignments and responsibilities as needed and assigned by the Director of Design & Project Management.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, and ability to successfully interact with employees at all levels of the business.
- Strong time management and organizational skills are a must.
- 3+ years administrative or equivalent experience required.
- Software expertise with Google Office Suite, Adobe editing, Adobe Sign, Salesforce, and Sharepoint highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques and ability to read blueprints highly desired.
- Ability to organize, manage schedules of third-party entities, creatively problem solve, and drive results is important.
- College Degree or equivalent experience desired.
- Utility interconnection experience as it pertains to solar is preferred.
- Able to type at least 50 wpm.
