Job Title: IT Network Engineer (Plant Infrastructure)
Department:Information Technology
Reports to:Senior Plant Infrastructure Manager
Location:Guelph, ON (Hybrid)
Position Summary:
Responsible for implementing, operating, and supporting scalable network solutions. This role will also routinely review, analyze, and recommend network improvements to ensure that the Network can scale with the needs of the applications and services riding on it.
Responsibilities:
- Gather & review the end customer network requirement for connecting the various control, SCADA, utility systems
- Plan and execute the approved network design in a specific change window.
- Monitor and optimize network performance and assure network security in a high availability environment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and other network and system problems in a prompt and timely manner.
- Recommend upgrades and replacement cycles to insure high availability of the network infrastructure including developing and implementing a scheduled maintenance plan.
- Write technical design and maintain build documentation for the network infrastructure.
- Enforce and execute user policies and procedures regarding the use of network resources.
- Use Wire Shark to perform packet capture and analysis for troubleshooting network and system issues.
- Document network knowledge base and operational “Run-Book”
- 15% travel required as necessary

Requirements:
- 5+ years experience in a production industrial or manufacturing networking infrastructure
- Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, and Palo Alto Networks firewall services including IPSEC VPN, URL filtering, firewall policies, and IDS/IPS
- Extensive experience in IP networking, L2/L3 network protocols (spanning-tree, OSPF, BGP), TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, end to end QOS/COS (focused on industrial real-time protocols), VLAN, HSRP, VRRP, NAT/NATP, LACP, EVPN with VXLAN, ACLS, application flow, infrastructure cabling, VPN- IPsec Tunnels, MPLS VPN, SDWAN, segmentation, Purdue model philosophy, along with hands-on experience managing Enterprise WANs
- Extensive experience with multi-vendor industrial switching technologies including Cisco, Hirschmann, Siemens, Beckhoff, Moxa, N-Tron and similar industrial switches and PLCs.
- Working experience with industrial protocols such as CIP Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, BACnet, EtherCAT, Modbus, REP, MRP, HSR and similar protocols
- Working experience with distributed control system (DCS) networks in a manufacturing environment. Ignition, Honeywell, Emerson, ABB, or similar
- Experience with various tools such as Protocol Analyzer, Wireshark, SNMP, Netflow, IPAM, RADIUS, Splunk, network taps, SPAN ICS scanners (Claroty, Teneble, etc.)
- Experience with developing scripts to automate infrastructure deployment and collect metrics (Salt, Ansible, Python, Shell Scripting)
- CCNP, CCNA, CCIE and FORTINET Industrial certifications preferred.
- Physical routers - Cisco routers and switches
- OT DNS & IPAM solutions
- Experience managing server environments, working knowledge of Server hardware, software and operating Systems, platform configuration, VMware, Directory Service Technologies, OT cybersecurity, and systems management tools is a plus.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
- 5-8 years of experience is required.
- Strong background with network and fire walling technologies including configuring, managing and monitoring, troubleshooting routing protocols, subnetting, and access controls and traffic shaping.
- Good written and verbal communication skills (English)
