JOB SUMMARY
Due to company and tax department growth, we are looking to expand our tax team. The Tax Manager will be part of the Houston, TX based team and have the opportunity to work directly with other core business departments. This newly created role will have exposure to a combination of business entities operating in the renewable energy power generation and storage sector. The position provides for potential long-term career advancement and will encompass numerous facets of tax reporting, compliance, planning, and research in an entrepreneurial organization supported by a well-capitalized and experienced team with a proven track record of growth and expansion. The tax department at REV is integral to the growth of the business by providing capital, in the form of tax credits and monetization, to finance the Company’s growth.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist tax team with compliance of laws, regulations, and rules related to the Inflation Reduction Act, specifically, IRC Section 48 credits, prevailing wage and apprenticeship
- Assist tax team with planning, structuring, and accounting for IRC Section 6418 tax credit transfers, tax equity, and partnership flip structures
- Manage ASC 740 tax provision calculations, workpapers, and reports including financial reporting for Renewable Energy Tax Credits
- Manage domestic (partnership & corporate) federal and state income tax workpapers utilized for estimated tax payments, tax projections, and timely filings of returns and reports
- Support coordination efforts with outside tax firms regarding review comments of prepared tax returns and interacting for research questions/projects
- Assist with due diligence and tax implications of any acquisitions, dispositions and other transactions
- Identification, research, and analysis of tax compliance and tax reporting technical issues
- Preparing written memos to document tax positions for financial reporting and compliance purposes
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Demonstrates solid knowledge and understanding of U.S. and State Income Tax and ASC 740 financial accounting concepts
- Strong work ethic and well organized - ability to manage multiple projects/assignments, while meeting deadlines; reliable and desire to take ownership of the work
- Proficient software skills including formula efficiency and workbook navigation
- Effective written & verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team structure
- Comfortable interfacing with external tax advisors, intercompany departments, and investors.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business field required. CPA required.
- 7+ years of professional experience in corporate taxation or public accounting
- Experience with power generation assets a plus
- Experience with managing Inflation Reduction Act tax compliance a plus
