Overview
The Water Truck Driver operates a water truck to transport and deliver water to designated locations, primarily for dust control, construction, or other related purposes. The driver ensures the safe and efficient transportation of water, adhering to traffic laws and safety guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate and drive the water truck to transport water to various job sites or locations as directed.
- Adhere to all traffic rules and regulations while driving on public roads.
- Follow designated routes or work orders for water delivery.
- Monitor and maintain the water levels in the truck to ensure an adequate supply during the shift.
- Load and unload the water truck as required at the designated delivery points.
- Discharge water onto construction sites, roads, or other designated areas for dust suppression or other purposes.
- Control the water flow and pressure to ensure proper distribution and prevent wastage.
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections to ensure the water truck's mechanical condition, safety equipment, and fluid levels are optimal.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as checking oil levels, tire pressure, and cleaning the truck's interior and exterior.
- Report any mechanical issues, damages, or malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
- Comply with all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
- Ensure that the water truck is operated in a safe and responsible manner, avoiding accidents or damage to property.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or near misses to the appropriate personnel immediately.

Qualifications
- Maintain a valid Class A CDL with Tankers endorsement
- Comply with all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
- Ensure that the water truck is operated in a safe and responsible manner, avoiding accidents or damage to property.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or near misses to the appropriate personnel immediately.
- Excellent computer skills as evidenced by experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and being acquainted with data entry processing, and Apprenticeship program systems
- Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of an Apprenticeship Program
- Construction OSHA10 preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding, or stooping a moderate amount of time while on shift.
- The noise level in the work environment for this position may be moderate to high, ear protection Is required.
- Employees performing functions of this position are routinely exposed to outside weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog.
- Employees performing these job functions are required to lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens.
