Overview
The ideal candidate for Jones Power CDL Driver is one who is dependable and has prior experience in hauling oversized loads of pipe utilizing steerable pole trailers in sizes varying from 40 ft, 60 ft, and 80 ft. Ensuring safety, integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the transportation of pipe for our customers is an expectation of this role. The ideal candidate is one who thrives working long hours on the road and can consistently ensure safe and accurate deliveries.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle
- Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Pick up and safely transport oversized pipe utilizing steerable pole trailer to the pipeline right-away
- Pick-up and safely transport pipe and other goods, to the intended destination
- Ensure contents are properly secured in a truck, flatbed to prevent damage/injury
- Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries
- Assist in mapping driving routes
- Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery
- Communicate with dispatch as needed
- Confirm that the contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document
- Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
- Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
- Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean
- Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, tire pressure, etc.)
- Notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered
- Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times
- Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
- Track and report working hours utilizing electronic logging system
- Adhere to company rules and regulations
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions
- Comply with FMCSA and DOT regulations
- Always make safety a priority.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends if needed.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL with no manual restrictions
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Must pass DOT physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- MVR must meet company and FMCSA DOT standards.
- Pipe hauling experience preferred
- Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
- Proficient using electronic logging systems, GPS and other routing systems
- Map reading and route planning experience
- Self-starter who works well independently
Physical Requirements
- The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
- Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to health, safety, and environmental hazards
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. at a time
- Ability to exert force 75- 100 lbs.
- Prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab for long periods of time
