The Product Manager Role
The Product Manger owns product performance and strategy for a family of products. The ideal candidate will be able to understand industry trends and the competitive landscape and develop product strategies to deliver both revenue and margin growth leveraging not only new product development, product positioning, pricing, and promotion.
Primary Responsibilities/Duties
- Serve as the product owner for 1 or more families of products
- Responsible for generating incremental growth, revenue and margin through development projects and initiatives
- Work directly with sales and our customers (installers and distributors) to define the value proposition for winning product.
- Define product requirements that product development to deliver against a winning value proposition
- Track and analyze key product performance metrics, generating insights to guide decision-making and strategy adjustments with Senior Leadership
- Responsible for the product lifecycle, from ideation and development to launch and end-of-life.
- Work with Sales and Marketing to define the necessary go-to market activities to ensure product introduction success
- Work with Marketing to develop product collateral and other promotional materials
- Manage products through the entire product development process, leveraging the existing stage gate process
- Comfortable reading and understanding applicable technical product / material standards
- Understand, calculate, and apply basic financial concepts (examples: gross margin, EBIT, etc.) for a product line
- Develop and provide product training to Sales and the broader organization

- Understanding of basic financial concepts and ability to apply these concepts (i.e., gross margin, EBIT, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of intellectual property concepts related to hardware products
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience
- Ability to travel as needed 10-15%.
