SUMMARY OF ROLE
NovaSource is seeking a Senior Field Specialist to join a specialized "SWAT" team, focused on improving the performance of underperforming sites. This role is essential in addressing critical challenges across a diverse portfolio of over 25GW of assets in North America. The SWAT team offers a unique opportunity for high-performing individuals to take on impactful projects and advance their careers by resolving some of the industry's most pressing issues. This position is expected to travel to site locations up to 50% of the time.
In addition to performance improvement initiatives, the SWAT team may also be involved in site turnover support, technician training, commissioning activities, temporary area management roles, and remote technical assistance. Travel will be determined by the candidate's location and proximity to key operational areas, including Imperial Valley, CA; Lancaster/Bakersfield, CA; Fresno, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Buckeye, AZ; Pueblo, CO; Fort Collins, CO; Casa Grande, AZ; Midland/Odessa, TX; Dallas, TX; Albany, GA; Indianapolis, IN; and Cincinnati, OH.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review work orders and complete on-site assessments to identify capacity offline gaps, in collaboration with site teams and performance engineering groups.
- Develop and implement plans to resolve offline capacity issues, leveraging internal teams and subcontractors when necessary.
- Monitor contractor work in the field, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Partner with crew supervisors to provide training and guidance, ensuring that performance and cost goals are consistently achieved.
- Maintain accurate reporting and tracking in the work order management system, including hours, comments/notes, and part usage.
- Lead customer-facing interactions pertaining to job walks, quotes, and final job completion
- Continue to expand technical knowledge and expertise in relevant areas.
Skills/Competencies
- Strong background in troubleshooting inverters, DC field, batteries, control systems/SCADA, network, and instrumentation and controls associated with PV Solar and BESS Equipment
- Experience in developing performance improvement plans and managing projects
- Ability to collaborate across teams with a supportive, solution-oriented approach.
RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in technical and project management roles, including 4 years specifically focused on photovoltaic (PV) solar systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS) operations, construction, and/or commissioning.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role involves both office and field-based work, with travel to job sites expected approximately 50% of the time. Field work exposes the Manager to the risk of electric shock, heights, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. Additionally, while working outdoors, the employee is exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, and ultraviolet radiation from the sun. The noise levels may require hearing protection.

Physical Requirements:
Bending, kneeling, twisting, the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, the ability to climb ladders, and wear PPE for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in high and low temperatures, sun exposure, and navigate on uneven ground on foot.
