SUMMARY OF ROLE
NovaSource Power Services (“NovaSource” or the “Company”) is seeking a NERC Subject Matter Expert & Specialist to build and enhance NovaSource’s NERC scope of services, engage with the Company’s multiple departments and provide the NovaSource’s customers world-class NERC services in the process. This position reports to the Sr. Vice President, Global EHS & Quality. The position will be based in the Company’s headquarters in Chandler, AZ or in the Company’s Houston, TX office location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Work closely with the Sr. Vice President, Global EHS & Quality and the onboarding team to oversee and build out NovaSource’s NERC compliance customer offerings and provide strategic advice to and collaborate with multiple departments, such as business development and performance optimization teams, in order to:
- Improve the Company’s NERC compliance customer offerings as part of the Company’s scope of services under its customer-facing service agreements;
- Lead customer engagements and discussions concerning the Company’s NERC service offerings;
- Assist various departments in managing appropriate evidence of NERC compliance, periodically review documentation and evidence to assure accuracy and completeness, review existing procedures and create new procedures and processes with controls to help ensure NERC compliance performance;
- Effectively partner with outside NERC and engineering experts and outside legal counsel as needed to leverage subject matter expertise and manage multi-faceted NERC compliance issues;
- Remain current on NERC regulatory changes impacting the Company’s business and importantly the Company’s NERC service offerings to its customers and communicate such changes (i) across the Company to proactively update its NERC service offerings and (ii) to the Company’s customers to support the customers’ NERC compliance requirements for which NovaSource is contracted to provide such services; and
- Work closely with the General Counsel and legal department to support the mapping and building out of the Company’s internal NERC compliance function, focusing on:
- Establishing and conducting effective company-wide NERC training programs to promote NERC compliance awareness;
- Conducting periodic reviews of internal NERC compliance procedures, analysis, planning, and implementation of required changes and support activities related to internal NERC compliance reviews, internal NERC audits, NERC regulatory matters and self-reports;
- Supporting the internal NERC compliance function, including the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s internal NERC compliance program;
- Serving as one of the NERC SME compliance liaisons with the applicable regulatory bodies in conjunction with the Company’s legal team.
RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive experience in creating in-house NERC compliance programs, including customer-facing NERC services, reviewing documentation, analyzing data, laws, and policies and implementing solutions to address risks and enhance customer compliance programs;
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements and automation to drive compliance efficiency internally and externally, while strengthening customer relationships;
- Strong experience partnering with cross-functional / multi-departmental teams, to identify potential instances of non-compliance, lead investigative tasks, and deliver transparent conclusions to relevant stakeholders;
- Demonstrated success in collaborating across several teams to align compliance goals with business objectives, and delivering impactful training and awareness;
- Experience managing and continuously improving compliance programs, ensuring regulatory excellence and operational efficiency.
Credentials and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. 7 to 10 years of experience working as a corporate compliance professional, internal auditor required. Related experience and/or education may be consideration.
- Strong knowledge and experience in NERC compliance, risk and business practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint) required.
- Excellent writing and communications skills. Strong problem-solving analysis and skills.
- Self-starter who asserts responsibility for managing projects and follow-ups with demonstrated attention to detail.
- Ability to manage and be responsible for various priorities, projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work both independently and innovatively and as a collaborative team player who is adaptable to new challenges.

- Candidate must be legally entitled to work and reside in the United States for any employer.
- This role is located in Chandler, AZ or Houston, TX.
- Periodic travel is required for this role, approximately 25%.
