POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
The Senior Project Manager, Solar Preconstruction plays a key leadership role in Moss’s Solar Division, overseeing all preconstruction activities from project award through contract execution. This includes strategic client management, team leadership, estimating oversight, and coordination with Legal, Engineering, Procurement, Risk, and Operations teams.
The Senior Project Manager ensures project readiness for execution by leading RFP management, schedule development, budgeting, design coordination, permitting, and contract negotiations and finalization. This role also manages a team of preconstruction professionals and serves as a senior liaison between Moss and the client, providing high-level project insights to internal and external stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the preconstruction phase, building trusted relationships and ensuring alignment on project goals, deliverables, and expectations
Lead and mentor a high-performing preconstruction project team, fostering professional growth, accountability, and a culture of operational excellence
Oversee all aspects of preconstruction activities, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and design coordination
Manage the preparation and submission of competitive project estimates, from conceptual through final pricing, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with Owner requirements
Analyze design progression and provide value engineering recommendations to optimize cost, constructability, and project performance
Facilitate contract reviews and negotiations, including Limited Notices to Proceed (LNTPs) ensuring favorable terms and risk alignment
Direct site due diligence efforts (e.g., geotechnical, utility coordination, pile testing), identifying potential challenges early and collaborating on mitigation strategies
Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations to align deliverables, support permitting efforts, and prepare the project for seamless transition to construction execution
Maintain visibility into procurement and trade contractor engagement to ensure timely resource acquisition and pricing support
Monitor and communicate project status, risks, and milestones across internal teams, clients, and executive leadership through regular updates and review meetings
Maintain preconstruction documentation, including RFI logs, budget trackers, drawing logs, and Owner submittals until project handoff
Represent Moss in client-facing meetings and industry interactions, reinforcing our reputation for quality, transparency, and technical expertise
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business or related discipline. MBA is a strong plus
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in the Solar/EPC Construction industry
Relocation to South Florida is preferred to best lead teams and coordinate with cross-functional teams
Basic industry knowledge on technical aspects, such as design, performance modeling, and construction, of utility scale solar power plants
Obtains the capacity to swiftly focus on project specifics and then shift perspective to the broader strategy
Manage challenges that can only be solved with input from multiple cross-functional teams
Strong understanding of industry and holds industry relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
Strong computer skills are a necessity, such as MS Office / Excel / PowerPoint / Word, including familiarity with construction project management applications and estimating software
Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid, Accubid, MS Project, Primavera, AGTEK and BlueBeam, InSite Software is an advantage
Legally savvy, strong estimating skills, and experienced in project scheduling
Capable of upholding communication that is effective, clear, and consistent
