Lumina is looking for a Safety, Training, and QC Coordinator to join our team in Maryland.
As a Safety, Training, and QC Coordinator, you will lead safety enforcement, oversee field training, and drive quality control efforts across solar installation projects in Maryland. You will ensure compliance with OSHA and NEC standards, conduct regular audits and site visits, and deliver hands-on training to uphold the highest standards of safety and workmanship. You will play a key role in identifying and correcting issues in the field, implementing new products and procedures, and supporting crews to maintain a safe, efficient, and high-performing work environment.
In this role, you'll get to:
Conduct monthly safety huddles with field crews
Lead new hire safety orientation and training sessions
Perform on-site audits and inspections to ensure OSHA and NEC compliance
Enforce all company and regulatory safety policies on job sites
Maintain and implement effective site-specific safety plans
Provide in-field coaching and training when safety violations are observed
Initiate and enforce corrective actions or disciplinary measures for safety non-compliance
Conduct site visits to inspect and uphold installation quality standards
Repair or replace components that fall below Lumina's quality benchmarks
Deliver hands-on product training and implement new technologies in the field
Support new installations or remove-and-reinstall projects when additional staffing is needed
Assist with maintenance tasks, surveys, and inspections as required
Maintain accurate records of safety meetings, incidents, site audits, and training activities
Stay current with OSHA regulations and National Electrical Code (NEC) changes to ensure consistent compliance
Communicate findings, recommendations, and best practices to field teams and leadership
Lead by example in promoting a culture of safety, quality, and professionalism
Motivate and guide field teams to consistently meet or exceed performance and safety goals
Foster a proactive and solution-oriented approach to field challenges
Perform other related duties as assigned to support project and company success
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
Minimum 3 years of experience in the solar industry
Residential solar experience required; commercial experience is a plus
Willingness to travel to other Lumina locations and field sites across the Mid-Atlantic region (MD, DC, VA, DE, PA, NJ)
In-depth knowledge of safety standards including Arc Flash Awareness, Lock Out/Tag Out, Fall Protection, Ladder Safety, Site Safety, and Electrical Safety
Strong leadership, management, and training experience in a construction or solar setting
Proven ability to manage and coordinate teams safely and effectively on-site
Proficient with hand and power tools, solar installation equipment, and related materials (e.g., ladders, inverters, panels, batteries)
Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical systems; ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently
Comfortable working on rooftops, in attics, and in confined spaces under varying weather conditions
Ability to repeatedly lift 75 pounds
Proficiency in using smartphones and tablets for communication, job-related apps, documenting work progress, and staying connected with team members and supervisors
Proven track record of reliable attendance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Position requires passing a drug screening and background check
A valid driver’s license is required for all positions at Lumina
