Job Description
- Set up and operate product testing equipment (Universal Test Machine, Load Cells, Bonding Path Resistance equipment, etc). Use job specific fixtures, basic hand tools
- Development and fabrication of test fixtures
- Operation of fabrication equipment including mill, wire edm machine etc.
- EDM: Operating, maintaining, and repairing, and troubleshooting
- EDM: Perform operational tasks, preventative maintenance and/or assist in troubleshooting to determine problems in equipment used in the development of prototypes and the iterative design process
- Test mechanical and electrical components according to engineering requests; conceive and document test configurations
- Work with engineers to plan, execute and document testing. Solving problems with impact on device performance
- Mathematical and computer skills necessary to reduce test data per aluminum and steel design manuals; calculate allowable loads
- Write test reports that summarize test results. Collecting data, screening data, and cleanly communicating the results
- Read, utilize and potentially create engineering drawings
- Use precision measuring equipment
- Order/ collect/ fabricate materials for testing
- Organize resources, materials, locations and assemble representative full scale photovoltaic systems for ground and rooftop applications
- Organize test area / develop procedures and rules
- Ensure equipment calibration schedules met

- Verbal and written communication skills and ability to present issues and solutions
- Analytical problem solving and testing skills
- Works well in a diverse team environment
- Skills to work with minimal supervision and adjust to rapidly changing priorities
- CAD experience
- Experience or education in operating fabrication machinery
- Microsoft Excel and Word experience / MS Office proficient
- 2-year degree in mechanical technology / engineering technology preferred
- Product mechanical testing experience preferred
