Lumina is looking for a Solar Support Technician to join our Residential Operations Team in Palm, PA.
This support role plays a vital part in our Residential Solar division, providing hands-on assistance across various aspects of operations, including Surveying, Inspections, Permitting, Electrical Work, Installations, and Maintenance. The ideal candidate has experience in solar installation, a strong electrical background, and the flexibility to assist wherever needed to ensure successful project completion and customer satisfaction.
In this role, you'll get to:
Work closely with the Residential Operations Management Team to align weekly schedules, ensuring coverage in high-priority areas and providing flexible support to meet operational needs
Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to, the following:
Use company-provided equipment to conduct thorough site surveys, capturing all necessary measurements, layouts, and conditions to support precise project planning
Perform comprehensive assessments of roofs to evaluate conditions, identify leaks or potential issues, and determine any necessary repairs or replacements
Diagnose and resolve maintenance issues on pre-existing residential installations to restore optimal performance
Install products associated with residential photovoltaic (PV) systems, such as critter guards and EV chargers, while adhering to safety and quality standards
Install essential electrical components, including solar modules, inverters, main service panels, and other elements critical to residential solar systems
Install and troubleshoot battery storage systems, perform electrical upgrades, install EV chargers, and integrate solar electrical systems seamlessly
Communicate and coordinate with electrical inspectors to facilitate smooth inspections, attend inspections as scheduled, and complete any repairs identified by the inspector to ensure project compliance
Provide regular updates on job progress, complete necessary paperwork, take photographs for documentation, and communicate professionally with homeowners throughout the project
Keep company vehicles well-maintained, stocked with essential tools and materials, and serviced as needed to ensure job readiness
Follow all safety protocols and company policies to uphold a safe working environment for both team members and clients
Assist with job safety measures and provide general crew support, including staging materials, preparing the site, performing general site work, and cleaning up after job completion
Take on additional tasks as required to support the Residential Operations team in delivering top-tier solar services
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
Must have residential electrical experience, including installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Proficiency in safely handling power and hand tools, as well as materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, and wiring
Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, both AC and DC, including troubleshooting, wiring, and assembly
Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues
Capability to climb ladders, work on sloped roofs in all weather conditions, and stand for extended periods
Experience and comfort working in attics and confined spaces
Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly
Proficiency in using smartphones and tablets for communication, accessing job-related apps and software, documenting work progress, and staying connected with team members and supervisors as required
Proven track record of reliable attendance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards on every job
A valid driver’s license is required for all positions at Lumina Solar
