Summary of Role
The VP, Business Development is responsible for growing NovaSource’s Power Plants business in the United States. They will manage the client relationship up to operational onboarding. This includes sourcing new clients, developing and maintaining relationships, creating proposals, negotiating commercial terms, and overseeing cost estimating and contract negotiations.
The primary goal of the Business Development Manager is to create lasting, mutually beneficial partnerships with clients. They must be able to speak expertly to clients with a transparent, trustworthy approach. Since every client and project is different, they need to be able to develop creative, tailored solutions. The VP, Business Development will serve as the face of NovaSource during the sales process and must always represent our values to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify potential clients active the Latin America and U.S. Power Plants market and complete appropriate research on their business and needs.
- Outreach: through personal and professional networks reach out to prospective clients to establish relationships with NovaSource.
- Sales meetings: run in-person and videoconference sales meetings to explain NovaSource’s service offerings and value proposition, find opportunities to collaborate on, understand the procurement process .
- Proposal management: full management and execution responsibility for proposal development, working closely with NovaSource cost estimator, contracts manager, and admin team.
- Proposal follow up: follow up with the client to ensure NovaSource remains in the RFP process and amend the proposal to address client feedback.
- Commercial terms alignment: negotiate key commercial terms with the client to get to deal award.
- Contract negotiation: collaborate with contracts manager to execute contracts.
- Log and track all opportunities and account outreach in NovaSource’s CRM.
- Develop relationships with prospective clients, while maintaining existing client relationships.
- Market research: keep up to date on all news related to clients and industry trends.
- Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, construction or engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of business development experience in the solar industry with a large network of industry relationships.
- Demonstrated achievement in B2B sales.
- Deep understanding of the industry, with the ability to become a subject matter expert on the job.
- Strong verbal/written communication, analytical, organizational, & time management skills.
- Able to travel up to 50% of the time.
