About the Role:
LS Power is seeking a Senior Project Developer who will have day-to-day responsibility for working closely with the Vice President, Development and other team members as appropriate to identify, develop, acquire and close opportunities to meet strategic and financial goals of the organization. In this role, your responsibilities include collaboration with internal resources and providing oversight of external support resources and activities to ensure project success. Project development activities include market analysis support; project conceptualization / screening; grid study oversight; technology assessment that may include gas-fired generation, batteries, wind, and solar; site evaluation; real estate acquisition or lease; environmental/regulatory permitting; public relations support; engineering interface; and contract negotiation support.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
- Develop and maintain capital cost estimates for a range of technologies
- Provide inputs for market and project specific financial modeling
- Identify locations and sites suitable for project development and support property acquisition activities
- Support or manage interconnection studies
- Support environmental permitting
- Support or lead regulatory permitting activities
- Prepare project schedules and budgets for development efforts
- Manage external consultants as necessary
- Perform a variety of collaborative and individual special projects and other duties to meet organizational goals and objectives
Qualifications
We want you on our team because you…
- Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university
- Have 3 to 7 years of engineering experience, preferably in a project development role or as a project engineer with an EPC contractor
- Effectively manage multiple assignments under time constraints
- Are a solutions-focused team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team
- Have excellent time management and organizational skills
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Work independently with direction on a regular basis
Ideally, you also have
- Experience with performance modelling and/or measurement on Brayton and Rankine thermodynamic cycles, chemical-to-electricity energy conversion, or other related experience
- Experience with transmission power flow analysis
- Experience using geospatial information system software
- Intermediate or higher-level coding experience with Python
- Coursework or experience in engineering economics or finance
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Experience with one or more of the organized wholesale electric markets in the United States
