The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge of utility-scale systems including SCADA, substations, and inverters, with a proven ability to lead troubleshooting and asset monitoring efforts. In addition to technical expertise, the Director will manage all long-term service agreements—ensuring performance obligations, vendor oversight, and contract modifications are handled effectively. This includes managing third-party service providers, driving performance reporting, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
Job Responsibilities:
- The role will carry full P&L ownership for the O&M portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
- Supervise total O&M efforts to ensure project is following proper standards including national and local standards.
- Requires close collaboration with the construction and engineering teams will be essential to support project handover, warranty transition, and early-stage issue resolution.
- A key focus will be continuous improvement in asset reliability, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Assist on-site management with planning, coordinating, and supervising on-site functions (crew management for division, equipment management for division, schedule, productivity, budget).
- The Director will also oversee regulatory compliance, including environmental, safety, and operational standards, while ensuring that all internal and external reporting obligations are met.
- May authorize and/or approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc. with upper management approval.
- Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods, local regulations and requirements, equipment, etc., as required.
- The position requires a proactive and collaborative leader who can operate cross-functionally and provide strong direction in a fast-paced, evolving renewable energy environment.
- Leadership and team development will be central to the role, as the Director will guide a team of engineers, field personnel, and support staff.
- Assume responsibility for productivity of technicians, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
- Review and write necessary processes and procedures.
- Oversee SWPPP and Warranty management working with internal and external groups.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field is required, and an advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PE, OSHA) are preferred.
- Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in the energy sector, with a minimum of 5 years in utility-scale solar O&M or asset management.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of Renewable O&M (technology, equipment, methods, regulations, process, procedures); vendor agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, cost control schedules, and safety required.
- Experience with CMMS, remote monitoring tools, long-term contract management, and regulatory standards such as FERC/NERC is strongly valued.
- The role will involve occasional travel to project sites (estimated 20–30%).
Targeted salary range is $190,000-$220,000
