Lumina is looking for an Accounting Intern to join our team in Maryland.
As an Accounting Intern, your primary responsibility will be data entry related to inventory management and bookkeeping tasks. You'll assist with recording inventory transactions, updating financial records, and supporting month-end reconciliation processes.
The Accounting Internship will provide you with real-world application of GAAP and financial principles, exposure to full-cycle accounting, and the opportunity to develop relevant skills in various accounting functions. This role offers valuable insights into the accounting profession and helps build a strong foundation for your future career.
In this role, you'll get to:
Collaborate with the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support company operations
Process daily inventory transactions, including purchases and usage; perform physical counts of inventory, reconcile accounts at month-end, and ensure accurate data entry for inventory records
Participate in reconciling general ledger accounts and preparing financial reports
Gain experience in full-cycle accounting and assist with month-end close procedures, including detailed data entry for bookkeeping tasks
Support the accounting manager and senior accountants with additional month-end tasks and ensure the accuracy of financial data
Contribute to ad hoc projects as required by the organization, including data entry and analysis for special projects
Perform other general accounting duties as assigned, with a focus on maintaining accurate records and data integrity
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or anticipated completion of a Bachelor's degree program
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meticulously review and verify financial information to ensure accuracy
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex formulas, to effectively manage and analyze financial data
Knowledge and experience with accounting tools and software, to support various accounting tasks and processes
Strong mathematical skills, with the capability to perform precise calculations, reconciliations, and data analysis to support accurate financial reporting
A general understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and their application in daily accounting activities
Availability to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, totaling 20-35 hours (This paid internship offers the potential for extension into a full-time role.)
