POSITION OVERVIEW
The Site Surveyor position at Positive Energy involves scheduling and conducting home visits to gather critical information for the design, permitting, and installation of PV solar systems. The role requires a combination of solar industry knowledge, customer service skills, and strong attention to detail, as measurements, photos, and observations are collected and communicated to the Design and Project Management teams. Responsibilities include assessing site conditions, ensuring code compliance, and managing client interactions by providing exemplary customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-Survey Preparation
- Gather input and direction from the Designer and/or Sales team.
- Gather documents and client details for the site visit - ensure Site Survey Calendar is up to date and includes all required information.
- Prepare for site layout and array layout by gathering necessary information, tools, and supplies.
- Ensure Site Survey (SSV) kits are complete and in good repair.
- Attend design/sales weekly meetings as needed.
Conducting the Site Survey
- Assess options for meeting the contracted scope of work.
- Verify code compliance for the electrical service.
- Collect measurements and make recommendations regarding array layout, structural conditions, balance of system (BOS) layout, electrical interconnection, conduit paths, trenching, data monitoring, access, HOA considerations, safety considerations, client scheduling notes and questions.
- Maintain positive customer interactions while on site.
- Enter collected site information in a timely manner, due dates to be provided by the Design Manager.
- Ensure uploaded site information is organized, complete, and named appropriately.
Safety & Process Improvement
- Evaluate tools and methods. Ensure tools are treated with care and kept clean and orderly.
- Ensure others follow safety practices.
- Raise red flag issues regarding safety, work quality, site anomalies, etc.
- Look for efficiencies and innovations in site survey practices.
- Regularly communicate with stakeholders to identify bottlenecks and new methods.
Project Support & Communication
- Provide support to Project Managers (PM) and Design teams throughout the lifecycle of the job.
- Conduct site visits in a safe manner.
- Manage client expectations and redirect project inquiries to assigned TSA.
- Enter collected information into NetSuite, Google Drive, or any other selected file hosting system.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support the team.
Time & Schedule Management
- Ensure your time is managed effectively and stay updated on Site Survey and Project Calendars.
- Be timely and responsive to requests.
- Manage transportation between the Santa Fe and Albuquerque offices, maintaining a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, personal vehicle, and auto insurance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must have demonstrated skills and qualifications in the following areas:
- 2+ years of experience in solar or general construction industries
- Minimum 1 year of solar PV installation experience preferred.
- NABCEP certification and/or Journeyman Electrician license preferred.
- Proficient with Google suite, Windows operating systems, and associated software
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to work with numerous contractors and affiliated parties in a clear and efficient manner.
- Organization skills and planning for timeline and deadlines.
- Strong observation and situational awareness.
- Team player who maintains a positive and respectful attitude.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Displays strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Drone Pilot’s License strongly preferred
- Personal Vehicle use is required, including valid Auto Insurance and Driver’s License.
- Must be able to walk, bend, squat, and lift 60 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must be able to safely use ladders, work on roofs/heights, crawl spaces and attics.
- Must be able to sit or stand at a desk and use a computer.
